Braille Press

The dot-writing has spread in Hungary since 1893. With the spreading of the dot-writing, the basis of the Braille-library has set up too. The more and more equipped Braille-press involved a lot of jobs, and the continuous development has reached the need when point of 10-14 people could ensure the coordinated work. Of paramount importance to most blind people granted permanent job. Job is very colorful and diverse. It’s outstanding significance is that it garanteed permanent work for mostly blind people. Their job was colorful and diverse.
When the computers appeared and has been involved into the jobline, the haeavy phisical work had became more easier. With the modernization the printing processes has changed too. After the separation the Braille-printing has worked on its activities and tasks autonomously. In 2006 the works has been organizationally shared.  The editing, the preparation of the Braille materials, and the printing processes had to be seperated for two groups. The Braille-press’s situtation has been stabilized, and the press can follow the modernization’s expectations, and satisfy the needs on an outstanding level.

The tasks ofd the Braille-press:
The Braille-press is working on the sheduling, printing, delivering of books, journals, and other documents taking care of the production period.
- continous technikal and quality control
- making accessories, toolings for the press work area
- Measures to develop a criteria for accident prevention, especialy based ont he visually impaired workers needs.
- Maneging the printing administration.

Effects of the task:
Providing basic literacy and equal oppurtinities of access to information and serving the needs of the blind in this question.
The educational institutions: the general and secondary schools, language schools and courses and facilities for Braille textbooks.
Individual and external (eg ministries, local government etc) ordered documentation.
The Association of Braille library staff increase.
